5 Reasons to visit St. Lucia

5 Reasons to visit St. Lucia

Many people think St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands in the Carribbean. We all have our opinions, and I will leave that for you to decide for yourself. But, after my recent visit to the island, I can definitely say it is an island you will never forget. It is equal parts beauty and charm, and combined with the laid back Carribbean vibes it captivates all that come say hello.

Here are my top reasons for why you should consider St. Lucia for your next Carribbean escape!

Landscapes you'll fall in love with

Be prepared to be amazed. You are in for a real treat!

The famous view of the Piton mountains is iconic St. Lucian. The thick and lush vegetation on the two mountains and the sorroundings, with the beautiful blue waters in the background are as instagrammable as you'll get. The larger of the two mountains called the Gros Piton along with the Tet Paul Nature trail provide excellent hiking opportunities for those who seek more of an active adventure.

Bright beaches & blue waters

There is a beach for every kind of traveler in St. Lucia. From the Rodney Bay in the north, with some of the island’s best beaches, gorgeous sunset views and plenty of restaurant options along it for those who prefer a more happening atmosphere, to the secluded and pristine Marigot bay for those wanting a more exclusive flair to their vacation. And, then ofcourse, there is Sugar beach and the beaches of PIgeon Island with their white sand and beautiful waters and Anse Chastnet with its amazing snorkeling and diving opportunities.

Party & Passion

Nobody knows how to celebrate quite like the West Indians. We happened to be in St. Lucia right around the time of their 40th independence day celebrations, and boy were they in party mode or what. Outside of the independence day celebrations, St. Lucia has plenty of festivals throughought the year. From Jazz and art festivals to rum festivals and ofcourse the biggest one being the mardi gras style carnival in the Summer. If you find yourself in St. Lucia outside of any of these festivals, then fret not, just head over to any of the nearest towns for Friday night street parties all year round!

Foodie Heaven

St. Lucia is such a diverse melting pot of cultures, which makes it any food lover's paradise becuase of the interesting mix of cusines. From the freshest seafood, to delicious blends of curries and sauces there was not a single meal I was not happy with. They had the most amazing variety of tropical fruits and ofcourse, how can one forget the rum.

Terrific Sightseeing & Tours

Last but not the least, St. Lucia also offers some very unique sightseeing oportunities. It boasts the world's only drive-in volcano. Yes, you read it right. Drive-in volcano. The sulphur smells can be a bit overwhelming, but the uniqueness of the experience still makes it a very popular thing to do on the island. Then there are also exciting ziplining and canopy tours with amazing views, super cool suspension bridges as well as chocolate and rum tours.

All this and more makes St. Lucia an ideal destination for weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries or just anyone wanting a relaxing or fun break with beautiful views. St. Lucia offers some amazing resorts, personally tried and toured, from value options to the ultra luxurious that come highly recommended.
